While working for Apple Inc. as a Channel Store Advisor, I got the opportunity to design materials to help staff and customers with their shopping experience!

PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT

While working as an Apple Channel Store Advisor at Power Finland, I noticed that many customers and store staff had difficulties knowing which accessories are compatible with each product.

After talking with my colleague, we figured that simple infographics would help both of these groups.

After designing, it was noted that there are many important services that should be highlighted during the customers store experience, which is why the decision was made to produce more materials that could be utilised in the store environment to help everyone. These materials were AppleCare infographics, FindMy deactivation guide and Apple Watch for Kids infographics.

TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF DESIGN

While starting the designing for these infographics I was asked to design with the color palette that Power uses.

After executing these designs my colleagues from Apple reached out to me and asked for simple design versions of the produced materials so that they could use them in their retailer store Apple Shops.

These designs were so fun to make and it is awesome to see them being utilised in different Finnish retail stores

APPLE WATCH FOR KIDS AWARENESS

PROBLEM:

Customers didn’t know that Apple Watch for Kids is also available now in Finland!

The staff wasn't aware how the service works and what benefits it brings to the customers

DESIGN SOLUTION:

Design infographics that highlight that the service is now also available in Finland.

Include a compact but informative material that educates the staff but also the customers about the benefits of the service!

RESULTS:

Many customers have noticed the sign about Apple Watch for Kids and showed curiosity by asking me and the staff about the service.

The staff is more educated about the topic and have materials to back them up in customer situations.

APPLECARE

PROBLEM:

The awareness of AppleCare is low among customers and the store staff.

The benefits and AppleSupport app is unknown for both of these groups, resulting in lost customers and awareness only after an accident happens that the insurance could have covered.

DESIGN SOLUTION:

Design infographics that highlights all the benefits AppleCare brings to the customers, including the AppleSupport app that helps with most of the concerns the customers might face.

Make the materials information packed so that it is easy for the store staff to recommend the service to everyone without forgetting important details.

RESULTS:

The store staff got more informed about the service which resulted in confidence in offering it to customers.

Customers got curious about the service since they noticed the infographics inside the store and wanted to know more about it.

APPLE WATCH BAND COMPATIBILITY

PROBLEM:

When customers want to update their Apple Watch band, they usually look for the product label that displays the size of the Apple Watch they own.

But many don’t know that the Watch bands are actually compatible with many different sized Apple Watches.

DESIGN SOLUTION:

Design infographics that educate the customers and provide a cheat sheet for the store staff to check which Apple Watch bands fit with different sized watches.

RESULTS:

As a result many customers didn’t leave the store disappointed and empty handed, but with a brand new band for their Watch!

The store staff also got more confident with finding the right fit for the customer, even if the exact size wasn’t available.

APPLE POWER ADAPTER RECOMMENDATIONS

PROBLEM:

As EU changes their regulations and put different laws to tech companies to follow, we have to adapt to these changes in the retail stores too.

EU regulated that devices that use under 140W to charge, don’t include a power adapter in the packaging.

This created a problem among customers and store staff to picking which product to charge their device with.

DESIGN SOLUTION:

Design infographics that inform the customer and store staff about the best picks to charge their MacBook with.

The infographics should include all the new models that do not include the power adapter in the packaging.

RESULTS:

This design solution made it easier for the staff to recommend the right power adapter to the customer to fit their needs.

Customers were also happy to know which adapter they should purchase for optimal charging, and which to pick for fast charging.

APPLE MAGIC KEYBOARD COMPATIBILITY

PROBLEM:

One of the most asked things in retail stores about products is with compatibility. Because Apple has hundreds of devices, it is important to know what’s the right accessories for the customer, to ensure a high level of satisfaction.

The store staff also has thousands of products which they need to know about, so it is completely understandable if they need help remembering.

DESIGN SOLUTION:

Design infographics that help the store staff to identify what accessories should be combined with each device.

Customers who don’t want to get customer service in the store also have to be able to see what product they should get so the infographic has to include most of the compatibilities.

RESULTS:

The store staff were very happy about the infographics because it was helpful to check the compatibility somewhere to ensure a satisfied customer experience.

Many of the customers also utilised the materials and checked the compatibility themselves, which provided them with more confidence in making the decision to purchase a product.
